Overview
Pebblebee is a Bluetooth item-tracking platform that helps users find anything, anytime, from any device. As the Lead iOS Engineer, I took ownership of the app’s technical direction, team structure, and code quality — ultimately driving the App Store rating from 2.4 to 4.6.
My Role
- Joined as Lead iOS Engineer to manage an outsourced development team
- Led the transition away from outsourcing by hiring direct team members — conducting interviews and mentoring new engineers
- Drove the full technical modernization of the iOS codebase
Technical Highlights
- Asynchronous request handling and background processing
- Core Location services and Bluetooth (BLE) integration
- iBeacon ranging for proximity-based tracking
- Subscription management via StoreKit
- Push notifications and Firebase Analytics
- Migrated from RxSwift to Combine
- Transitioned UI layer from UIKit to SwiftUI
